Human Serum

Human serum is utilized in various research applications, such as human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing and immunohistochemical staining, but is also frequently used as a supplement to culture media. In order to grow satisfactorily, some human cell types require the addition of human serum rather than animal serum to the cell culture medium.

Human Serum – Type AB has been proven to grow many human cell lines at a faster rate and with a smaller percentage of serum than mixed blood group serum.

Normal Human Serum, also referred to as mixed blood group serum, is often used as a lower cost alternative to Human Serum – Type AB for applications where the lack of antibodies against A and B blood type antigens is not crucial.
